The Backstory
These honour the many times I hid my Tarot deck under the mattress when I was a little girl. The many times I magnetized psychics, witches, Shamans, and many other extraordinary human beings that went totally against the anal religious narrow-minded strictness of my bloodline. These stem from the absolute joy I find in simply shuffling a tarot deck. Just touching it sometimes is enough to shift me into trance. I guess this is a backlog of repressed readings I knew I wanted to be engaged in but never could. And now even more so in Morocco where witchcraft is considered an illegal taboo, where I am constantly having to wrap my decks in beautiful silks every time I travel in and out of the country so they do not attract the eyes of the security guards. One of the decks I use was given to me by one of my private clients years ago. I recall her expression - ‘Here Jan’ these are yours’ I remember looking at them and locking them away for years. I was numb, I had had enough of hiding. I guess I had reached a point of no return. I couldn't even feel who I was, yet the people I had around me could see and sense it.I bought another deck, played around with both of them in India but never got in touch with the deck as much as I did last year in London right after I ordered my Goetia deck. Then all of a sudden my decks formed a liaison and they developed a heartbeat. I played and played and played endlessly. Until I decided to offer them to the public as part of my book pre-order launch. The rest is history.
